LOS ANGELES TRIP... PLUS AN UPDATE FOR AJA FRIDAYS...

What's up Dynasty Fam... I haven't found the time to update this in a while so I thought today would be a good opportuniy... Why is it a good opportunity? Well because AS OF THIS WEEK, I OFFICIALLY RESIGNED FROM MY POSITION AS RESIDENT DJ TO AJA'S FRIDAY NIGHT PARTY... It was nothing personal, more so a business decision amongst ourselves. I hold no grudges against them, but at this time (like I said, for business reasons) it was best that I went my separate way... They're in the process of opening up two new clubs right now if you haven't heard, AJA WIREGRASS (which will be in Wesley Chapel) and THE DRYNK (which will be in the heart of SoHo across the street from Cheap) so things are a little crazy over there understandingly... Since some time is now available to me, it's time to update everyone with some more shenannigans from the everyday lives of us here at dynastyevents.com...

About two weeks ago I went out to Los Angeles again to take a run through some of the club circuits out there... I spun at a few spots around the greater LA area and stayed with a friend of mine DJ ROIAL1... Some of you might remember when we brought him here to Tampa to do AJA and Fuego (now called Mambo's)... I brought my camera along and this is what it had to say... lol...

I had been traveling all day (Tampa to Philly to LA) so I was mad hungry when I landed... But instead of food, Roial1 decided to give me a heart attack instead... The world famous Tommy Burger! Warning: Your arteries might clog by just looking at this.

Afterwards it was straight to the club... I spun a night called More Fire at Sevilla nightclub in Riverside (just outside LA)... Such a dope night... The vibe was so on point... Hip hop, old school, reggae, dub, dancehall, funk, soul, etc... The vibe is so tight out there... Like if Tampa threw a hip hop/reggae night anywhere in town, the shit would turn for the worse kind of immediately... You know, one of those nights where you don't even feel safe unless you're wearing a bullet proof vest and carry a shank or some other sort of battle ax. People out there wore whatever they wanted to (no dress code) but everyone was in style and looked fresh. They just came for the music... There were two main rooms there, the hip hop/old school/funk/soul room was downstairs and the reggae/dancehall/dub room was on the roof overlooking downtown riverside... The video below shows both... Check it...

Afterwards it was time for some Mexican food... Don't ask me why, but I have weird thing with taking pictures of the food I eat everytime I'm out of town... It's my Asian tourist side of me.

The next morning it was off to the Acrylick headquarters. Some of you might remember when Roial1 was in town here in Tampa we gave away a bunch of free clothes at Fuego... Well that's the clothing line he works for... We chilled there most of the day. I signed some papers and became an official Acrylick sponsored DJ (first official Acrylick DJ in Florida and the east coast!)... They hooked me up with some free threads, took a mini photoshoot, and then they put together a special for me on their WEBSITE... I had like no sleep so I look busted, but here's some of the pics from that...

Afterwards it was time for some good old Asian food. At this point let me just stress how much I love LA... Here in Tampa it's Hispanic people everywhere... Over there its Asian people everywhere... I feel at home lol... Roial1 told me Sam Woo's was the shit so we hit that up... Here's our cool Asian pose. Don't hate.

That night we headed over to Florentine in Fullerton. I spun there last year on the same night of the week... The night is mostly college kids but its not anything like the college parties here. Everytime I DJ college crowds in Tampa they always ask for the most ridiculous requests... Who knew rich white frat boys loved ghetto ass gangsta rap so much? Well it's not like that in LA... I spun a complete old school set and they ate up every second of it... I loved it... I accidently left my camera at his house that night so I'm sorry but I don't have any pics from that night... But here's a video from last year (just so you get the idea... lol)

After the club we hit up a 24/7 subway where I conversed and shared some interesting thoughts with possibly the funniest stoner I've met in my life about why being a drug dealer is better then being a positive member of society. It was one of the funniest moments of my life but I'll have to spare the details for the sake of this blog's integrity (like we have any anyways... lol)... What was pretty dope though was this crazy electronic drink dispenser that literally could give you whatever you wanted (115 different flavors)... Robots are gonna rule this country one day... I'd watch out if I were a bartender... One day, this could replace you!

The next day was literally spent recovering from the night before (those college parties will do that to you... lol). LA is gorgeous during the day... It blows my mind that they have Dim Sum until like 4pm every single day... Some of you, ok most of you, are probably like "what the fuck is a dim sum?" Well let me school you... Dim Sum is the Chinese equivelent to Tapas dishes... but served in a very cafeteria like setting where people just go around with carts filled with little dishes and you grab whatever you want as they come by... Here in Tampa the only place I know where they do this is at TC Choy's in South Tampa... But only on Sunday mornings... So you can imagine how often I make it out there... And THAT'S why this was a big deal... I warn you these pics aren't for the sqweemish... Don't judge me... This shit's good. lol...

I found Nemo.

Later on that evening, we got word that some shit had happened at the club I was supposed to be spinning at and the night was cancelled... So now that I had a free night off, Roial1 took me around to a part of LA I had never seen... The artist district in downtown... Check Mr. Cartoon's workshop. If you don't know who that is, go kill yourself... He's probably the most famous tattoo artist ever. He does all the celebrities and even had his own T-Mobile edition of the sidekick distributed nationwide... His workshop is literally like 3 blocks long... Insane...

Afterwards for dinner we ate at this German spot called Wurstkuche where all they served was sausage and beer. My kind of spot... lol

Check this menu! And yes... I ordered the rattlesnake and rabbit one... lol

It was kinda like Macaroni Grill here in Tampa where they let people draw all over the table... But instead of dumb crayon drawings by infants we were in the artist district of LA and they had shit like this on the tables... So dope.

Our grub...

Outside overlooking downtown LA...

Since we had the night off, I hit up my homey DJ FASHEN and went to go peep the spot he was spinning at that night... This small little dive spot called Mountain Bar in China Town... Cool little spot. They were doing nothing but straight vinyl all night... Brought back some memories of the days before all the DJ's had serato... Record diggin!

The following day again was spent sobering up... Again... Wow... God. I think I just realized I'm an alcoholic... Later that night I was scheduled to do 72 North in downtown Pasadena but before hand we made a trip into Hollywood to have dinner with a buddy of mine, DJ SERAFIN (who by the way we are bringing down to play at The Kennedy Thursday Oct. 29th). We ate at this amazing sushi spot called Katsuya... So good... Haven't had sushi like that ANYWHERE in Tampa.

After downing a bottle of Sake and countless Goose and crans, we said our goodbyes and we made our way to Pasadena... 72 North was probably my favorite club out of the trip... It was also my last night there. I played on this patio (kinda like I do at Mambo's... But WAY better) to a bunch of 20 somethings who absolutely loved the set I played. I got into my usual routine there and did a true open format set... The crowd was great, the music was great, and the drinks were flowing... Overall great night... We also gave away the last of my mixtapes so that was fun...
