TAMPA CONSIDERING UNDER 21 BAN AT ALL CITY NIGHTCLUBS?!

If you like to go out on the town, but still haven’t hit the glorious age of 21, your days, or nights should we say, may be numbered at all Tampa nightclubs.

Following shootings at two Ybor City nightclubs, Empire and Manila, late last year, the Tampa City Council is now exploring tougher regulations including a possible ban on patrons under the age of 21 at all Tampa nightclubs.

Tampa officials are also looking to implement regulations requiring more security in the form of off-duty police officers at large capacity clubs.

Currently, the City Council does have the legal right to ban patrons under 21 from all city night clubs. They’ve asked city staff members to draft up a number of new regulations, including the under 21 ban, for the council to consider at a May 24 hearing.

If the under 21 nightclub ban is passed, Hillsborough County would join around 20 other Florida communities with similar bans.
